TENS machine help anyone?

Just received my machine today (TPN 300D as recommended on a chronic pain thread).
Am sitting here all padded and wired up, bit not sure how I should be setting it. The booklet is vague and techy, and suggests referring to your medical practitioner re. settings. Mine came from Dr Amazon, so I don't have this option.

Can anyone help me in my confusion? I don't know what I shoukd be feeling, but at the moment I've still got the backache, but kind of worse, and it's on the lowest pulse rate and width settings suggested. I'm not sure what to do with the dials on the top, which I think increase intensity as you turn them up.

I can't comment on your specific model as I have only used TENS for chronic backache in pregnancy (made worse by pre exisiting curvature of spine)and throughout labour but... It kind of felt like lots and lots of blunt needles pressing and releasing -sounds awful, was actually bliss. IMO ( and its nowhwere near expert) just increase the intensity little by little until it feels good. I could work mine up to full power over a ten minute period, but would have jumped through the roof if I started it up there! Hope you get some relief soon :)

Oh thanks - I actually did what you suggested, was just hesitant to start with.
Not sure if it's helped yet - I'll see if I get a good night's sleep tonight I suppose.
Mine's for a scoliosis as well - started in pg but has stuck with me for 17 years so it's definitely chronic!

My tens has lots of preset programs. Anyway the main thing Ihave found the higher you increase it the better the pain relief.

Always start low though!
