Should I go to the doctor today?

Right. I'm going abroad for a week on Sunday.
Should I try to make an emergency appointment with the dr today? Alternatively, you lot could diagnose me.

Symptoms:

~ Nausea -- improved by eating, but returning an hour or so after eating.
~ Lower abdominal pains, especially in the morning.
~ Occasional heartburn/burning in the back of my throat/taste of something I've recently eaten/drunk.
~ Occasional feeling of having a 'lump' in my throat.
~ Almost-constant 'winded' feeling in my upper abdomen, like I've been punched in the stomach.

Is it likely to be a virus of some sort? It's been going on since Sunday evening, but thinking about it, nausea and stomach pains have been a fairly common occurrence for me for a while, off and on. If not, what could it be? If they give me medication, is it likely to have dodgy side effects which could affect my holiday or, more importantly, not allow me to drink?

Could it be stress?

TobyLerone · 30/03/2012 12:47

I don't really have a lot to be stressed about!

I do sometimes get a bit of anxiety, but it's not the same kind of pain/feeling.

Yes go ....also for peace of mind . I am not a doc BTW so I have no idea what it could be !

TobyLerone · 30/03/2012 13:33

Well, I've booked an appointment. I'm none the wiser as to what he might say when I get in there, but we'll see!

I had all of that in pregnancy...I take it it's not that?

If not I would see GP, yes.

Good idea to get properly checked out by the doctor.

It sounds like you've got a touch of gastric reflux/gastritis. Are you stressed at the moment?

TobyLerone · 30/03/2012 18:14

Jalopy is the winner! Gastritis and reflux. Got Omeprazole.

Tobes, I am the reflux queen. I could have diagnosed you from your OP.

Milk and mint tea are also good natural acid suppresants.

TobyLerone · 01/04/2012 07:19

Milk gives me the boak. So does mint tea, since I was told to try it for morning sickness and it reminds me of how shite I felt.

Tablets not working too well yet, but I've only taken 3 so far. Sod it, though. I'm going on holiday!

Toby, omeprazole takes a while before you feel the benefits. Enjoy your holiday.

Yes, I found they took a while to work, but they did get rid of it in the end. Have a great time.
