Any advice for haemorrhoids please?

Hi,

As my name suggests I haven't had any babies and have never been pregnant so this isn't a result of pregnancy/giving birth.

I get haemorrhoids (I think) quite regularly and can feel them with my finger. It makes it incredibly sore when I go to the toilet and sometimes pass blood I assume because of them. I only go to the toilet every few days and sometimes then it's hard to pass. I try to eat lots of fruit and veg but I know I don't drink enough fluids which I've tried to do but struggle.

I suppose my question is what should I do? I know I should probably go to the doctors but as you can probably tell from my post I'm quite embarrassed and hate talking about this type of thing. I know doctors have heard it all before. Anything else I can do myself to improve it or should I just bite the bullet?

Thanks for any responses :)

You should not feel embarrassed, haemorrhoids is a common problem in woman. try and avoid being constipated because it makes it worse. Continue to eat lots of fruits and drink planty of liquid. If you are bleeding a lot and experiencing pain then you should see your GP.

Thank you. I'll try to drink more. I thought if i posted on here it would make it easier to discuss it with the doctor. I'll talk to anyone about anything else but find toilet habbits hard to discuss Confused

Go to see the doctor, they would rather diagnose something properly and they have fantastic creams for this type of thing. The doctor would have seen a lot worse than your haemorrhoids! They will only need a quick peek anyway. Honestly it will change your life for the better.

Thanks! I hope they can help, its so painful i'm in tears some times. I always think of it as a pregnancy or old person problem but i'm 25 and have had them on and off for a long time.

I'll phone the doctors today and make an appoinment.

:)

Definitely see the doctor.

Use lactulose to soften the stools and use a pile cream frequently.

Piles are horrid :(
