Ds is 14 months and we have just had the letter about the MMR.
My problem is that I am not good at making decisions at the best of times and it is even worse when it involves the health of ds!
What have you all done? The MMR or single vaccines? Please help me decide

Dd had the MMR, i was'nt sure about it but decided to let her have it rather than the single vaccines as she hates injections ( one would be less fuss than having three). She did'nt have any side efects.

This one's a recent thread.

All 3 have had MMR with no ill effect at all - not even a mild reaction.

Unless you have some family history that suggests your ds might be predisposed to autism or to a serious reaction, I wouldn't worry if I were you. Millions and millions have been vaccinated with no ill effect.

Your ds could react to any medication you give him - people get so het about about the MMR but feel perfectly happy giving their children antibiotics which are known to cause SE as serious as liver failure!! It's so incredibly rare you don't hear about it so most people don't even know! It's only because this has been so hyped up that you are worried. It's understandable but I don't think there is a reason not to vaccinate except in certain circumstances.

my dd had hers around 13/14 months and didnt even cry when the needle went in. She didnt appear to have much reaction to it either. She was a bit off colour about a week later but it could have been the fact she was coming down with the cold rather than anything to do with the jab.

I am opting for single jabs for DS although Im "almost" certain that he would be ok with MMR....there is that slight shadow of a doubt for me...and thats enough.

Thanks everyone,

I think the hype was actually over the mercury which they used to hold a 3 vaccines together but they are no longer allowed to use this.

I checked after the 5 in 1 jabs at 8 weeks because I couldn't see how they held them together without there being the same controversy(sp?) - and the big press coverage of the dangers of MMR was about 5 years ago now with no new cases being brought to public attention (which I am sure they would have done if there were any)

I might wait a little while because ds is at home with me and not in nursery, but I think I will opt for the MMR

Thank you for all your advice

I done singles through choices healthcare.

The controversy over the MMR is nothing to do with mercury (a preservative in the baby jabs), as it was never in MMR (well actually that's controversial, but thimerosal was never officially in MMR).

The risk factors for the MMR include gut problems.

Neither of my children have had the MMR vaccine. There is so much evidence for and against that i really don't know what to think. All i know is that as a mother i believe that nobody knows a child like its parents, if a parent says that their child was healthy and then suddenly started having problem after having the MMR then to be honest I believe them.
