I have a freckle in my eye.

Went for my routine eye test this week and the optician noticed a freckle in my eye. Not visible by just looking at it - she spotted it when looking closely at the back of my eye.
She told me not to worry about it as they are very common and very rarely become a cause for concern. I just need to carry on going for routine eye tests.
Still can't help wondering if it will be a problem.

I think (not sure) that you can read the eyes, is it called iridolgy?
The location of the freckle could indicate something- not serious by the way, I don't want to scare you

here

meggmoo · 03/02/2006 22:16

here is more detail

apparently I have dodgy digestion!

SPARKLER1 · 03/02/2006 22:18

That looks really interesting. They are unable give any diagnosis for illness. Something to think about for sure.
Do you have the same problem with you eyes?

I have little marks. I went and had a reading as I was curious. It was surprisingly accurate but in the same way that reflexology is at detecting little blips. I really didn't want to scare you!

Dodgy digestion and a few other ailments for me.

My optician found pigment at the back of my eye a couple of years ago, told me not to worry too much and he measured/photographed it - each year they check it just to make sure it hasn't changed - it's like having a mole on your skin which most of the time is nothing to worry about. He told me I'd probably had it for years but because of its position - right at the back of my eye - it hadn't been picked up before

My mum had a small brown birth mark rather like a mole on the white of her eye , she had it since birth and it used to only bother her when people would tell her she had something in her eye in the queue in Tesco lol.

I have a great big freckle in my spinal area.

Luckily I have a lovely chiroprator in my spinal area too!

(never knew the freckle was in my spinal area until looking at that chart, but knew the Chiro was in my spinal area!!)

Really squarer? Hmmmm.

Squarer · 03/02/2006 22:58

Really truly! I have been seeing my chiro on and off for years and always wondered where the freckle was in terms of iridology. I am quite taken aback!

Sparkler, I'm an optom. and I wouldn't be the slightest bit worried about your "freckle" They hardly ever change! I'm in practice 16 years (Oh my God, how old am I!) and have seen hundreds of them but have never seen one turn nasty. One or two colleagues have found melanomas in patients but these appeared "out of the blue" didn't start out as freckles. Obviously they should be watched out for at each visit but try to put it out of your head in between visits!

SPARKLER1 · 04/02/2006 08:25

thanks everyone, esp Chipmonkey.

I had this too. Optician informed me she could see a 'freckle' in my eye. Next time I had a check-up (after worrying for months) I saw some-one different who said the same as Chipmonkey and really put my mind at rest. I'd forgotten all about it actually until I saw this thread. It would be nice if some people would think before they strike terror into people's hearts!!

suzywong · 04/02/2006 15:11

do you mean right in the back of your eye, on the retina?
I had one and was sent to Moorefields Oncology department. Thankfully I didn't know what "oncology" meant. That was 10 years ago, got the all clear but scared the bejeezus out of me when I posthumously discovered it could have been serious.
