Sooooo, tennis elbow?

Anyone?
According to Dr Google, this is why my elbow is so painful,(although it may actually be golfers' elbow...) but apart from that, he hasn't been very helpful.
Do I go to my GP for an official diagnosis, or just sit it out and hope the paracetamol/ibuprofen cocktail starts to have an effect soon [feeling sore and sorry for myself emoticon]

Go to your GP, get a diagnosis, talk about a steroid injection (not nearly as painful as it sounds), get referred to physio.

It bloody hurts, and mines been bad for 9 months now Sad. Starting nhs acupuncture next week

9 months, bloody hell!
Sounds like I'm going to see my GP tomorrow, then.
Thanks!

I went to my GP with tennis elbow and he told me I'd have to have a steroid injection. I then went to see my osteopath, who also does acupuncture. A bit of manipulation and 3 needles in it and it was gone. It briefly recurred a couple of months later after an ironing marathon and a quick visit to the osteopath did the trick again - that was 4 years ago and it hasn't come back Smile.

TBF, mine is particularly difficult as I can't use the other arm, so can't rest it

In the mean time stick an ice pack on it (not directly, use a tea towel) and keep it there for 10-15 mins, repeat every 20 mins for an hour or so.

Had this a few years ago and couldn't pull a plug out, or lift a mug from coffee table beside me if I was sitting on sofa.
Told by a nurse friend to take ibuprofen, and not to stop taking it even if pain went away quickly, the medication needed time to reduce the inflammation.
Took this for 10 - 14 days and pain and discomfort went and it has never come back.

if it is tennis elbow, try an epicondylar clasp. i got one from ebay. you strap it around the arm, just below the elbow and it places pressure on the tendons causing the tennis elbow. this relieves the strain at the joint. that coupled with some rub in ibuprofen gel will help. i've been wearing my clasp for a few weeks now and the elbow is much less painful. but you'll need to make sure that is what it is first. it was my gp that recommended the clasp, if that didn't help, next stop was the injection.

Thanks all Smile
Apparently I have golfers' elbow (on the inside rather than the outside of the elbow), and the GP has given me Naproxen to take for a few weeks. If that and resting (ha!) don't fix it, then it'll be onto injections.
Crossing my fingers the drugs work!
That clasp sounds good as well - currently wearing a tubigrip, mainly to remind me not to do anything silly with that arm
