hi Trace I think lavendar oil or tablets are meant to be good. Or is it Oil of Primrose? You could ask in Holland and Barrett if you have one. Poor you

mummytosteven · 03/02/2006 09:57

Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin B6, Agnus Castus? Eating carbs regularly? There's a writer called Maryon Stewart who has written about controlling PMT through diet.

compo · 03/02/2006 09:58

Aha Evening Primrose Oil - that was the one I was tryign to remember!

do you think it may be caused by ttc? The stress of it?

I took a chinese herb called Dong Quai, you get it from health food shops. It was very good.

Also NO caffeine and very little sugar - in fact the GI diet is great for PMT. And all other mild depressin remedies - excercise, healthy food, not too much alcohol and lots of sleep.

trace2 · 03/02/2006 10:06

the only thing am not doing with what you said is Dong Quai, so i am going this afternoon to get some. whats it do?

trace2- I too suffered really badly with PMT some years ago. I had acupuncture and found it was fantastic.

Maybe worth a try.

poor you. Have you been to see the doctor? Perhaos he could do a blood test or something to reassure you that it's just PMT?

trace2 · 03/02/2006 15:52

my gp thinks i shouldnt be trying at my age, it was a locum what sent me for blood tests last week to see if am ovulating

This is a useful website

PMS

It is a dreadful thing - I had never suffered a day of PMT till I had the bloody mirena coil inserted. They took it out 3 months later and it has left me with dreadful PMT (not mood swings but all the physical symptoms) and dreadful menstrual migraines.

Have a read of the site because it has some quite useful diet info and other natural things to do to try and help some of the symptoms. Much sympathy to you though.

trace2 · 03/02/2006 16:08

thank you, i will lokok now

Fox - I suffered after the Mirena as well. and they said it'd be fine.

Trace2 - I tried Primrose vit B5 or whatever and all that stuff, but you have to take so much of it and it can take 8 weeks to get into your system to have any effect even then it may be so slight it's not noticeable.

I went to my GP who after a lengthy discussion put me back on the pill and I've been about 90% PMT free since then. Will say however if you're already on the pill then it's worth changing it to see if it's that, I had to come off celeste in my early 20's as it was causing depression.

trace2 · 03/02/2006 16:14

not taking anything been ttc for 12 months
