...or am I just a glutton?!

Im fairly active (lots of walking to/from school, plus a run or two a week, plus Im a childminder so lots of carrying/lifting etc) but Im also about a stone overweight so not starving myself clearly!

So why am I always hungry given that I am most definitely not wasting away?

i went through a week just there of being absolutely RAVENOUS, couldn't work it out until i remembered that i just wasn't drinking enough. i am definitely someone whose body interprets thirst for hunger, it's such a no-brainer to fix as well. started drinking more, suddenly cravings stopped.

This is often a problem for vegetarians as it is hard to find sufficient protein and fat and far too easy to make the bulk of your diet cereal or potato based. If you are eating large amounts of eg, breakfast cereals, bread, pasta, rice, your blood sugar will always be rising and dropping erratically and causing hunger and tiredness - even with porridge, it's better than say Coco Pops, but still not ideal compared to say eggs meat.

Eat much more protein, especially for breakfast. Eggs rule. Also work on finding different grains/pulses that have a higher protein and fibre content as they will keep you feeling full for much longer. Try to eat more sweet potatoes and less normal potatoes. Look at the GI index for comparisons of different foods, the ones with the lower GI count are the ones to go for.

Don't cut out carbs completely that creates other problems. Try the low GL approach. This helped me to feel full after years of never feeling satisfied.

Thanks all, will re-plan my diet and water intake and see how it goes.
