Hay-fever advice desperately needed

Hi,
I'm desperately hoping someone can help me on this. My son, who is 18, has suffered from this for the last few years. It's started again this week and the timing is disastrous, as he is supposed to be revising for A-levels and he feels absolutely wretched. It really affects all his exam preparation and the exam performance itself. He's been to specialists and uses flixonase, sterimar and on the run up to exams is put on a low-dose steroid for 5 days. In addition we have tried local honey, vaseline up the nose, closing all windows etc.....
Has anybody else got any alternative suggestions?

Thank you very much. Will look into the Ioniser and the haymax.
He never suffered as a child, so it's all a bit bewildering.
Any thoughts about the effectiveness of homeopathic medicines?

Having a shower or just washing your face and running wet hands through your hair can help as it dampens down the pollen. Moist tissues (baby wipes or similar) can help prevent getting a really sore nose from all the nose-wiping. Wearing sunglasses when outside sometimes helps as it stops the pollen getting into your eyes. Sterimar is a good all round product as it's just natural seawater so you can use it to flush out your nose but also your eyes or just spray it over your face/hair for instant relief.
