New thread. Can't find old one, not been used in months.

Shaking now as just had neb, gone from ok to really bresthless and tight chested in space of an hour, no idea of trigger at all.

On steroids atm, peak flow still down at 270ish

Had a bad day mon after builders made loadsof dust and got really breathless.

oh and no this isn't a porn thread for asthmatic adults

Ha Ha - we know what you mean!
Giraffes sorry you are suffering. 270 is very low for you especially ( I seem to remember you are tall with high PF when well). Are you any better this morning? I hope you are NOT going to work this morning! Really you should be protected from the worst of it depending on how major the work is. I get set off by building dust too brick and plaster dust is a nightmare. Hopefully the steroids should be kicking in now assuming you started them a couple of days back. Time for total rest girl( stern look)

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 22/03/2012 19:55

errr I am still at work Blush , 8am-10.30pm ish today.

I am just sitting on my bum atm though.

Building work all done thank goodness, never knew that was a trigger for me!

Chest got more and more tight and sore as day has gone on. Coughing lots now, sometimes couging stuff up, and throat getting sore, so maybe a wee infection thing starting now.

Not sure if I can go to gp tomorrow - got funeral in the morning for a 1yr old boy :( I am not very tall but yes pf is usually 450 when well, or 400 when ok just.

How are you?

OP posts:
NettoSuperstar · 22/03/2012 20:07

Could you go into MAU tonight?
I'm worried about you, and you can't be really ill because I don't own a folderGrin

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 22/03/2012 20:12

i need a neb but need to wait until home now. chest feels that stingy way, same feeling i get when got illness related asthma (as opposed to from dog/dust/exercise)

OP posts:
NettoSuperstar · 22/03/2012 20:14

Antibiotics needed?
Maybe see if GP can get you in first thing.

magso · 22/03/2012 20:54

Working 14 hour day !!Can you slow up at least tomorrow Giraffe? GP tommorrow sounds a good idea. Sorry about the funeral.
I'm doing Ok thanks. ( I'm a shorty so everyone is tall to me and would dance for joy if I could get 450) Wanted to reduce my puffers but have not been able to, but mostly stable and staying clear of hospitals and (whispers not wanting to tempt fate) avoided pred for quite a while now.
Netto how are you today?

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 22/03/2012 21:18

OP posts:
NettoSuperstar · 23/03/2012 15:59

How've you been today?

I had a better day today than yesterday.
Physically I'm on the mend, but finding it hard to process what happened, and I scratched a neighbours car yesterday in a really stupid/embarrassing way and felt like a complete idiot.
He was really nice about it, and no permanent damage has been done, I just need to accept that I'm not well enough to go out atm.

NettoSuperstar · 23/03/2012 16:00

I have discovered that DD owns a blue/pink stripy folder though, I have 'professional' clothes and I wear glasses, so all sorted if needed to kick ass. (once I can leave the house of course) Grin

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 23/03/2012 20:26

Grin you could always try kicking ass from the house on phone and clicking a stapler in the background to make it sound like an office

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 23/03/2012 20:27

Take it slowly you, that poor car will report you to car-line soon.

Coughed up loads of crap this morning. chest sore and tight.

wishiwasonholiday · 23/03/2012 20:34

Can I join? I have really badly controlled asthma and have had far too many chest infections lately, gp gave me antibiotics and steroids to keep at home now so u don't need to keep going in and typical have been infection free for a couple of weeks.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 23/03/2012 20:54

hello and welcome.

What meds are you currently on?

That is typical isn;t it!!

OP posts:
wishiwasonholiday · 23/03/2012 21:16

Salbutamol, seretide, uniphyllin, montelakust and antihistamines but can't get the right one tried a new one last week and had a bad reaction to it. I struggle a lot at night and have just had spyrometry test and tests for sleep apnea done which came back fine, 400 is a good peak flow for me.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 23/03/2012 21:44

never heard of uniphyllin, that an inhaler or tab?

you on same as me apart from that one.

OP posts:
magso · 23/03/2012 22:21

Hello wishiwas. Is uniphyllin a form of theophillin? I had theophylline in the past ( in tablet form) . I cannot remember much about it except it was before short courses of prednisolone were used for flare ups - well on me at least. Perhaps having the ABs and steroids in the cuboard will ward off unother flair up in a touch wood kind of way. I had a very bad spell 2-3 years ago when nights were always very difficult. More under control now- at least for the moment. my PF is low in the early morning but picks up. At least the worst of the cold mornings ( that set me off) have gone for a while.
How are you today Giraffes?
I had a similar experience with a briefcase when trying to buy my first computer (also some years ago Amstrad 1640 days). Went into the shop in my lunch break, carrying shoping, tried to get help to buy the one I'd decided on - completely ignored. Called back in later with my shopping shoved inside my work case - and hey presto suddenly the staff noticed me!
I have avoided going on the montelkalast. I don't really know why I am so worried by it, but am manageging OK.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 23/03/2012 22:29

I feel mildly ill but not awful. Cant find my o2 monitor thing - too bloody small, keep putting it down and losing it, I need to keep it in same placce!

Trying to tidy up a bit so hopefully will find it!

Funny isn't it how people react depending on how you are dressed/speak. And yet whether I use my original posh suburb accent or my Glaswegian accent then I am the same person.

OP posts:
wishiwasonholiday · 24/03/2012 05:36

Yes it is a form of uniphyllin they've just upped my dose, I don't think jess meant to be on it long but they checked a few weeks ago and I've been on it 10 yeas! I really struggle without it I can tell when my next dose is due.

wishiwasonholiday · 24/03/2012 05:37

They not jess!

NettoSuperstar · 24/03/2012 11:19

I was once given amynophillin (no idea of spelling) in a drip in hospital, but it didn't work for me so I was told there was no point in them trying the oral version.
That was last July though and I've not thought to ask my specialist about it.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 26/03/2012 04:02

Just woke up having a bad coughing/breathless fit. Coughing up crap and nearly threw up.

Just had my neb so all shakey now. Having a medicinal cup of tea too.

OP posts:
wishiwasonholiday · 26/03/2012 07:43

Oh no hope you feel better quickly giraffes.

wishiwasonholiday · 26/03/2012 16:21

Re you feeling any better now?

funnyperson · 26/03/2012 16:32
