Because quite frankly two days later I still can't even face looking at the two bottles of Chablis I got given for mothers day!
It was grim and I'm nearly 42 years old ffs!

Yep. Not completely teetotal but certainly cannot face a hangover ever again and last truly awful one was several years ago. Added to that I get hideous migraines which are comparable to the worst hangovers I've ever had, so feel I have put up with enough of those symptoms without self inflicting them.

gregssausageroll · 19/03/2012 18:24

Yes me. Since ds was born I just can't face it. I seem to get a hangover much quicker too. If we are out I'd prefer to drive than have a drink as I can only handle 2 average size glasses of wine these days.

I just can't deal with the headaches.

Tinkerisdead · 19/03/2012 18:28

Me. I'm always always sick. And the last time was easter nearly 5 years ago. I hate that 'out of control, the room is spinning, shit i drank too much, throw up' moment. I swore never again. I usually drive to stop myself but i really will only have a couple of glasses of wine and stop.

CookieMonster · 19/03/2012 18:32

Me too. I got hideously drunk about 3 years ago, was humiliatingly sick all over the bathroom and after the hangover from hell, swore I would never get in that state again. I have a couple of glasses and that's it ... I like that slightly relaxed feeling and have got the hang of knowing when to stop.

At this moment I can't imagine even touching alcohol again but I'm sure that will wear off!

Me too. Alcohol tolerance seems to have gone down in recent years (I'm 37) , migraine vulnerability has gone up, and I'm a coward re pain of any kind! And then I started a job where evening events are part of the deal, and I felt like I was using up a lot of calories and provoking a lot of pain just for my employer...not good. So I cut right back and love it. The only thing that worries me is am I becoming a control freak, and it is a bit of a pain for DP as he still likes kicking back with a couple of bottles on a Friday night. Strangely, I now find that if I really want to go for it, I don't usually suffer next day, isn't that bizarre? But that's about twice a year.

I haven't been drunk since 1995 Smile I hate the feeling of floatiness and terrible nausea. I said "never again" and have stuck to it.

Chilenachica · 19/03/2012 23:05

Me too, not being a goody two shoes or anything it's just that I had twins and the thought of dealing with two babies/toddlers/young children while hung over was enough to make mend my ways. So, I haven't had a proper hangover in more than a decade.

CaffeineShadow · 20/03/2012 20:49

Yes,I was with an alcoholic ex P and that put me off so really don't like to drink. Also did a lot of binge drinking when I was a teenager and if I have one drink nowadays I feel quite ill. Don't know if its just a subconscious thing. Haven't drank for 7 years,I'm 27. Have had quite a lot of peer pressure to drink but stuck to my guns!

didldidi · 21/03/2012 07:00

Well done you caffeine! my blood sugar is still shot.

My DH supposidly said 'never again' on the morning after his 18th and hasn't touched a drop since.

onadifferentplanet · 21/03/2012 07:08

I hate feeling sick and dizzy and as I have got older found it was taking longer and longer to get over a big night out so I decided just not to drink anymore that was in 1998 and havn't touched a drop since.

chickensaresafehere · 21/03/2012 07:19

Me too, still have a glass but never overdo it.
As the others said hate the feeling during &the morning after.Dd2 has special needs so cant afford to.For her or me.
This New years eve was the first one I didn't get drunk & to be honest I don't miss it.
I prefer to be in control.

jinxediam · 21/03/2012 07:28

Yes me! I overdid it at Christmas and felt really ill for weeks so I have barely touched a drop since. I used to be a fairly heavy drinker so for me this is a huge lifestyle change. I had a glass on mothers day and that's about the most I've had since Christmas. I also have no want to drink which is very odd for me as I used to use it as a stress reliever. Once you break the habit of drinking daily/regularly it becomes second nature not to do it-much like giving up smoking. I now drink mint tea in the evenings and to start with this felt odd but now I enjoy it. My skin has massively improved and my figure has changed shape (in a good way!) which is a welcome side effect!!
