I developed asthma years ago, I then moved to the North of England and in the main it went away except when I was really stressed.

I have lived in the South of England now for five years and have no real need for my inhaler, however before Christmas I had 4 doses of Bronchitis[sp] one after the other, and it appears to have triggered the asthma again.

In the main it is not too bad, but I find that if I try and walk and talk in cold weather, I find that my breath catches, for the want of a better word, and I struggle a bit.

To all you long term asthmatics, is this normal ??

yes. Have always found that going from extremes of hot to cold or vice versa can trigger wheeziness.

(also, maybe you are a little unfit these days.....)

I'm just the same - I don't really use my inhalers much any more, but cold weather or sudden changes in temperature set me off.

Phew, I am normal, in the loosest possible terms.......

Just salbutamol, and that is really all I need, however myself and some school Mummies went out for dinner this p.m and the walking and talking was bit taxing IYKWIM.

The last couple of years I've found that I get a very sore throat if my mouth and throat aren't covered in extremely cold weather. Even walking from the car park to school can be painful some days, so I wrap a scarf round my mouth and I'm much better.
