Prolapsed Bladder

I've just been diagnosed with a mild to moderate prolapsed bladder by my GP, and been referred to a gynaecologist for more investigation. I'm 34 and have had two vaginal deliveries, my first was a forceps delivery, my second was 'normal' but with a third degree tear and stage 2 uterine prolapse.

I have all the usual symptoms, including some quite inconvenient ones. Put it this way, my trampolining days are over!

My GP, who specialises in gynaecology was so lovely, and said that I would be a good candidate for surgery (healthy weight, non-smoker, good age and fitness etc). She was not suggesting that the gynaecologist would definitely go down that route, she was just letting me know some of the treatment that may happen.

I've never even broken a bone, let alone had any op or GA. I'm a little nervous of surgery. Just wanted to ask if there's anyone out there who's had the surgery, and the quality of your life (and sex life!) afterwards.

Thanks, in advance.

My dd has this following the birth of her ds2 three years ago.She was given some physiotherapy and follow up exercises.Pilates was recommended and she was told that surgery was a possibility in the future .it is usually ok unless she does a lot of coughing/laughing.
sadly she was warned against another vaginal delivery and has decided against a third dc.

Thanks for the reply. I've had lots of physio in the past because of my third degree tear so I'm quite good at my pelvic floor. It hasn't done any good. Sad

Thanks so much Footle. I will check out the thread. I do have the cystole (sp?) one and possibly a uterine prolapse too. I had no idea how much it was affecting me, I'd just thought it was something I'd have to put up with. It wasn't until I watched 'Embarrassing Bodies' the other day and a girl was on with exactly my problem Blush that's never happened to me before, I can tell you Grin. Had I not watched it, I would have suffered for years in silence!

The GP was so lovely about it. I hope the consultant is as nice. I've requested a different one as the last one was so dismissive. Sad

I had my baby boy 11 weeks ago (my first baby) and a hard time in labour (28 hours, forceps delivery and 3rd degree episiotomy). For the first 5 weeks after I wasn't very mobile as my stitches came undone and i had to rest while waiting for my episotomy to heal by itself. It healed by week 7 and I was so happy to then be able to start enjoying my baby properly. In the last 3/4 weeks I have developed a new problem, which is really worrying me and I am concerned it may be a prolapse of the bladder or similar and wondered if you could tell me the symptoms you had? The problem I am having is that I constantly have the feeling of needing to wee. There's no pain, but literally as soon as I go for a wee, the feeling hasn't gone away afterwards. My gp gave me antibiotics suspecting a water infection but it wasn't, and i have now been to see a uro-gynacologist privately who did an internal examination and said it is my pelvic floor muscles. I'm really hoping it is just that but can't understand why this feeling is not going away. I am unable to do much walking with my baby as the feeling is worse when on my feet and walking. I was wondering if a prolapse of the bladder would be seen in an internal and if i have the right symptoms. Thanks

Hello Mrsm22 - Yes, Footle is right. I'm over on the other thread now, It's here if you want to read and come over. My symptoms are feeling like I have a lump inside my vagina when I bear down to do a wee, I have an accident if I sneeze or cough. I can't run or do an exercise class without wearing a full pad as I have lots of accidents. It's quite uncomfortable to have sex too, at times. There are lots more, but feeling that I'm not properly empty after a wee is one, and I need to wee a lot in the day and night too. Sad
