Hi
my DD delelopd a strawberry birth mark when she was about 3 weeks old it strated as just a time mark on the side of her head that looked like a tiny blood blister she is now nearly a year old and it has grown a lot in the last 2 months its still not realy big but i just wanted to know if anyone has any exsperiance of this?

I have been to my gp how said to take a photo of it so that we can monitoir its size, and that it might grow or might not! and that there is a possibility that we could have it lazered?? i have seen children with realy big markes and would hate for dd to have to go around with people staring at her

I would be realy greatful for any advice you can give me Thanks x

Both my kids have these, not on their faces though. DD1 is now 6 - nearly 7 and hers is fading, but not gone yet. We were told most go by age 5

My dd had a really big one above her eye. They really do disappear eventually. (The ones that don't disappear are the port wine marks.) The usual advice is that they don't need to be treated unless they are interfering with a vital function, such as eating, breathing, or (as in my dd's case) vision. If you don't treat, it will probably disappear completely. If she has it lasered, she will probably end up with a scar.

This is a good short article on the birthmark. DD(5 mo) has one on her stomach, and it has grown quite a bit lately, but not a bad thing, apparently.
