Hi all...fairly new here just after some advice.

Doctor said I may have a slight prolapse so is sending me to physio for pelvic floor. Has anyone else had this? What should I expect when I go?

I've had physio for bladder training as bladder didn't hold much wee before I needed to go. Basically I had to do pelvic floors as well as it's all connected. They will tell you how to do pelvic floor exercises properly and will want you to do them regularly and they might examine you to see how well you do them. I don't know if there will be anything more specific than that as obviously I went for a different problem. Hope that helps a bit.

At my first appt for a minor rear wall prolapse, she talked through the birth, my symptoms etc.. with me. She asked all about my toilet habits etc but was really good at making it sound like a totally normal conversation to be having.
Then she asked if I would be ok for her to do an internal exam at my next appt.

At that appt, she explained exactly what she'd do and asked again if that was ok.

Trousers off etc, lying on bed, she put two fingers in, had a feel and then asked me to cough, laugh, push.

Then she gave me exercises to do and at subsequent appointments would check my technique and progress. As I was trying for another baby at the time, if it was a week between ovulation and my period being due she wouldn't do an internal but would still have me take my underwear off so she could look from the outside while I coughed, laughed etc.

I've just had my first appointment for Physio after a third degree tear and suspected prolapse.

Same experience as EMS. I wasn't examined yet as I had thrush but doctor has exMined me since and also suspects prolapse.

Thank you all for explaining in detail, I feel more at ease now that I know what to expect. Sorry to hear your going through the same thing though. Hopefully the physio works, I don't like the thought of having an op to fix prolapseSad

Hi busy I dong relish the thought of surgery either. It's all very scarey isn't it. I hope the Physio helps and there's no need for further intervention.
