My DD will be 14 weeks and no jabs!

My (crappy) doctors surgery have given me an appointment of April 18th for DD's first jabs, by which time she'll be 14 wks. The red book says jabs at 8, 12 & 16 wks.

This is my first child (how can you tell lol) so should I be concerned at the delay?

why would your first appointment take so long and don't you have a health visitor who would do the shots? If not, call them again and tell them in no uncertain terms that you need an earlier appointment.

The delay will not cause her any harm at all, however, that is not a satisfactory service from your GP.

Speak or write to the practice manager, HV won't give you the imms but one of the HV will be a link HV to your practice and needs to know so that this can be raised with them.

Unbelievable when GPs are constantly braying about poor uptake of vaccination and the fear they have of loosing the payments for them.

She will probably be fine, there's a very small statistical probability of her being exposed to an illness she should be immunised against in those extra few weeks. Due to my autoimmune issues dd had hers at the hospital and didn't have her first jabs until 20 weeks. They were then just spaced at least 4 weeks apart as usual.

I dont understand why GPs don't hand out the immunisation appts at the same time you register the baby with them. It seems like the whole process takes them by surprise.

Dd didnt have hers until 16/17 weeks due to illness. However, if i were you id call your HV / GP and ask them for an earlier appt.

Wow I knew service was bad here but you've all confirmed it! I was initially being offered an appointment in June when she will be 6 months oldAngry.

I arrived for my 8 week post natal check up to be told that DD wasn't booked in DESPITE the surgery calling me to arrange the appointment! I waited 2 hours to see the doctor. Whilst in the last weeks of pregnancy I similarly waited 2 hrs to see the midwifeAngry.

Would like to go private and heading more and more that way the more I have to do with this surgery. Keep telling my husband this is why we should moveGrin
