Rib/lung pain

Can't get a flaming GP appointment until next week Tuesday Hmm so looking for some advice.

I've had a cough for three weeks that has more or less gone. At it's peak went to the walk in centre as I suspected a chest infetion but was told it was clear.

For the past two weeks or so I've woken in the morning feeling like I have been punched all over my ribs/lungs. Can't quite pinpoint the pain so its either ribs or lungs. Honestly, the pain in immense, it wakes me up about 5am and no matter how I sleepfront/back/side I can feel the pain. Takes about half an hour from me getting up for the pain to go.

Also, throughout the day I have a constant ache on the bottom of my left lung side. It's very uncomfortable.

Any ideas what it can be?

Pleurisy? www.nhs.uk/conditions/pleurisy/Pages/Introduction.aspx Sounds very painful. Sad

You may have cracked a rib with coughing.

Yes get it checked again that doesn't sound right, although if it is a cracked rib not sure what they can do for it.

Good luck.

Thank you ladies, might try get on the triage list tomorrow, which means speaking to Nurse Whiplash first.

When I went to the walk in centre they said the pain I was experiencing was a pulled muscle, but I doubt that is the case now as doesn't explain why the pain is all the way around my ribcage/lungs.

Have looked at the pleurisy link, thanks. Not sure that is what it is as not particularly short of breathe, just more in pain than anything.

Don't let the practice fob you off, you're poorly.

5 DP had pleurisy recently and I don't remember him being short of breath with it. He was in a lot of pain though that sounds like what you're describing. Make them see you, don't let the bastards them fob you off, it can be serious.

Have a GP appointment for 11:40. Nurse Whiplash thought it was urgent enough to grant me such a priviledge (sp)

How did you get on?

Thanks for asking. Have pulled the muscles between my ribs, on both sides. So lots of pain relief for me, and no heavy lifting.
