It's probably relatively straight forward but I need to know asap.

Are you at risk from Infective Endocarditis if you've had Aortic Stenosis and surgery to repair? The surgery has left a 'natural', slight narrowing of the left ventricle.

I'm not a doctor, just simply know far more than I really want to know about living with heart disease. So you cannot sue me for misinformation Grin

But as far as I know, yes.

Ah OK, well thank you for your response!

I had a tooth extraction on Monday. I have the condition as described in OP. You'll probably know that dentists don't give the preventative antibiotics anymore. But, since Monday I've been in agony with it - it's worse than any toothache I've ever experienced and that throbbing pain is keeping me awake at night, even with painkillers. I'm worried there's an infection and therefore the risk of endocarditis if not treated. I've had teeth out before, including 2 wisdom teeth and not had pain like this so it doesn't feel normal, but might well be. I phoned the dentist this morning who simply wasn't worried and said give it until the end of next week.

I couldn't argue about the risks as I don't fully know if I'm in that 'at risk' category. But I didn't know whether or not to go and see a doctor - I could do with some stronger painkillers if nothing else!

If you have had a valve replacement then you are still at risk of endocarditis. Therefore you'll need antibiotic therapy prior to dental treatment, and it's advised not to have any tattoos/body piercing after surgery.
