Anyone had a suspicious mole or a lump and if so what was the outcome?

Don't want this to sound like an insensitive thread title it's just I'm going to see the doctor about these problems and was wondering what might happen. Sad

What time is your appt today BC?

I hope it goes ok for you.

I have been this morning. - The lump is apparently just some fatty tissue and she said the mole didn't look too bad but I could have it removed just to be sure.

I think I have one of those fatty tissue lumps by my tummy button. Another friend has one and the doc told her it was just a fatty lump and nothing to worry about.

Dh was relieved to have his moles removed as they were making him anxious. I think that, given where it is, it wouldn't be too bad as there is more flesh there. Dh got a local anaesthetic so couldn't feel it.

Have you spent much time in the sun? Are you very fair or quite dark skinned? These things make a difference to the risk I think. The doc would know more about that than me though.

Gold Sticker and a big pat on the back for being brave and sensible and getting it checked.

I used to have an outdoors job pre-children but tried to wear sun cream and I used to be blonde (has got darker with age)

oooh, I've got a fatty lump too! but it is my tummy! SadGrin

Well done for going to get it checked & glad it went ok!

carrotsandcelery · 13/03/2012 12:16

If you wore suncream then you should be ok BC and if you are the sort of blonde that goes darker with age (like mine) then that does help too.

It doesn't sound like it will be anything you need to worry about.

Ha ha bessie! I should clarify then that I have a little fatty lump on my much more generous fatty lump Grin

Have you decided what you are going to do?

Frontpaw · 13/03/2012 18:46

I had a huuuuuuge lump under my arm and had to have it extracted. I left it for ages hoping that it would go away but it just got bigger (looked like a third boob) and wormed its way into a muscle and had to be scraped out. Now that made my eyes water. Size of an egg it was. Lots of stitches.

There is a warning in this story - if a doctor offers to take a smallish lump out, take him/het up on the offer and don't wait until it grows big enough to have its own postcode.

Lisad and OP - glad your appointments went well. I have had a date for mine (next monday) and am keeping my fingers and toes crossed and trying not to be morbid .
