How do you remove glue from hair?

Ok lurker coming out in desperation. DS1 split his head open a few weeks ago, hospital glued it back together. The glue has come away from his scalp but is still stuck and I mean stuck to his hair (has long 'surfer dude' hair). Anybody know any miracle solutions to get it out, without cutting it!

Go back to the hospital and create! Bloody hell!

De-Solve-It spray-on stain remover
(from tesco etc) - smells v strongly of oranges (weird I know) but seems to do the job. Says specifically it's suitable for gum, glue, tar etc on hair & skin. Also works on biro on trousers (which is what I initially bought it for)

nettie · 29/01/2006 22:40

Thanks MrsBadger, going to tesco tomorrow will have a look for it.

hair will grow!

bramblina.... are you serious?

nettie · 29/01/2006 22:50

I know it will grow back, but when its short it sticks up a la David Beckham's mohican (sp), and we've just got it to a length where it lays flat! (and he looks pretty cool ). So I really don't want to cut it, it was a pretty big gash.

i was thinking mroe of leaving it and just cutting it out gradually?

dp says it'll come out eventually, ust wash it regularly and it'll eventually come off.

chapsmum · 29/01/2006 22:59

Thanks chapsmum.

dab it on then roll, the glue in your fingers.
It is the same as superglue, and you can get superglue remover from hardware stores though Im not sure of its suitability for hair. good luck with the nail varnish remover...

chapsmum · 29/01/2006 23:07

no probs, sorry for being cheeky, it was the rose talking, good luck!

sansouci · 29/01/2006 23:10

think you're a scream! no apologies, just keep the one-liners coming chapsmum

nettie · 30/01/2006 21:16

OP posts:
bramblina · 30/01/2006 21:24

yes i was serious, they probably would have had a remedy.
or at least should have.

starlover · 30/01/2006 21:25

but the whole "go back and create" ???

why not just ask them nicely?

starlover · 30/01/2006 21:26

and why should they? they're there doing a bloody hard job, providing a FREE service to us, fixing kids heads!
they aren't there to worry about whether some glue gets in the hair while they are fixing a split head!

chapsmum · 30/01/2006 21:27

Great!
happy to help

bramblina · 31/01/2006 21:34

Christ! I was only having a laugh! Just a reaction to your strange request, I've never heard of wounds actually being glued back togather. Was simply meaning if they hadn't advised in the first place I'm sure they would have one if you did go back and ask. Nicely. I'm perfectly aware of the service they provide thank you. Not free BTW, NI pays it.

And sorry if I offended, really wasn't intended.

chapsmum · 31/01/2006 21:39

Actually NI only pays for 35% of it, they have been over budget for years. Tis a bizarre thought gluing wound back together...
but v effective
