Just wondering if there is anything available on prescription (before I go to see my doc and look like a ninny!) to combat fear of flying. Long haul trip coming up and am absolutely terrified! Thanks.

i had to take mine an hour before i got on the plane. it was fine for about 6 hours, then wore off and i went insane! took 2 more with a vodka and was totally out of it... not a good idea! lol

Have you tried rescue remedy it always works for me and I think is safe enough with most other medication.I always take it for long flights its great.
On another note my sis gives her dog it on bonfire night!

Took about half a bottle of it on the last flight I was on, and it didn't do a thing for me. Also tried Kalms and hypnosis. Never used to be scard of flying, it's just kind of crept up on me over the years.

Yes, I got diazepam (2mg tabs). Happily had a sympathetic GP who had similar fear. They certainly take the edge off the gut-wrenching fear. Definately need to take in advance (an hour before airport arrival as this is when fear starts) and have had to top up (have done 14hr flights) and have had odd glass of wine and not felt out of it. Although they have now become a prop for flying, there was never a danger of becoming addicted (for me anyway), even taking them to cope with 10 flights in a month.

Yes Detta, I used to be fine too, until about my mid-20s (long before I had kids). No idea why it started, either .

zopliclone(zimovane) its a hypnotic sedative works well, nr#eed a presciption. If your trip is long haul and your taking sedatives, you should get flight socks and talk to your gp about aking asprin to reduce the risk of DVT
