Candida of the gut - does it exist

I have had a range of symptoms for the last 12 months and been to the GP/ Hosp referral with no conclusive results.
I saw the term Candida referenced in another thread and had a google (mainly to see what it was initally). It turns out I have the vast majority of the symptoms and I am quite conviced I have this...
Now my problem - I have noticed that it does not seem to be recognised by many doctors or the NHS in general. Is it real and does it exist and is there any reliable treatment - that does not involve crazy diets or various pills?
I don't want to be duped by a con so I was looking to see if anyone had tried anything that really works?

yes it exists and your best and cheapest bet would be to go into a health food shop and ask about probiotics and cut down your sugar intake. Or if you can afford it, see a nutritional therapist.

thank you, thats kind of what I was thinking.
I was gonig to try the health food shop first - but don't really want to be baffled by science

Yes, my DS then developed candida septicaemia but he had underlying health problems.

I developed this after a year of strange symptoms triggered by a severe viral infection, the main issues being fatigue and weight gain. I cut out all wheat, alcohol and sugar, lost ten pounds in a few months, and suddenly had energy back. I also drastically cut down on meat and ate more fish and veg once I felt better. I was having multiple blood tests and was being told it could be the onset of ME.

Fast forward fifteen ish years and I never had another attach but I do suffer with GERD triggered by stress. Medications help but to be honest not as much as healthy eating and cutting out meat, yeast and sugar as well as drinking liters of water!

A friend of ours working abroad in a not-terribly-healthy situation (medical aid work) thought he had this as he had thrush in his mouth and his rear end

He swallowed a vaginal pessary and was fine within days!

Not sure he likes how freely his wife has shared this story Grin
