from borderline to mild dyskaryosis in 6 months

Hi there, ive now recieved 2 problem smear test results, the first last september was borderline and on saturday i recieved my second which has now gone up a grade to mild dyskaryosis, im also showing effects of HPV. I have been suffering from gynae related problems now for 5 years which at present is still undiagnosed, I went to see my GP reguarding these results yesterday and have been told to wait yet another 6 months for further testing and have been told they will not be looking into this further. Im very concerned about this due to my existing problems and also the sudden escalation in cell changes as pretty much all info i ahve read states that it can take up to 10 years for the cells to get to a dangerous stage so an increase in grade in just 6 months seems unusual. I understand fully that this is not cancer so please dont think im being hysterical about this, its just ive spent more time having examinations in the past 5 years than i care to think about and now they have found something wrong they are doing nothing?, they have also advised that i can continue to try for a baby despite these cell abnormalities, my partner and i do want another child but not at serious risk to my health and im very concerned that i could increase another grade during pregnancy, but on another count my GP has told me they can keep me on 6 months screening for up to 3 years! or possibly longer before they take action and im getting no younger! Help please anyone who has been through anything like this or has experienced similar treatment, thank you x

Borderline changes and mild dyskaryosis are both low level abnormalities which do often go away by themselves. The reason for the six month repeat is to give them that opportunity.
The NHS cervical screening programme is bringing an additional test in the future which will help to identify where the low level changes are less likely to go away on their own. This is due to be rolled out from April nationally (may vary locally). If your next test in 6 months is also abnormal then you would usually be referred for investigation then.
You can ask your GP to be referred to colposcopy for investigation now if you think that would be helpful.
A useful website to look at is the BSCCP which has information about abnormal results and pregnancy etc.

Think I have been on your other site. Actually think they now refer after 1 abnormal I would request

Bugsylugs if you read my answer on the other thread you will also see my explanation about the changes in referral. They do not yet refer on one abnornmal.

Whoops, this is the other thread! See above - NHS CSP is not referring on one abnormal, and after April it will on the basis of an additional triage test to identify more quickly the changes which as less likely to go away on their own.
