Removal of temp filling for inlay -no anesthetic?

I recently had a tooth prepared for an inlay and have a temp filling in it at the moment. I am quite nervous at the dentist, after having a filling at a previous dentist for which I could feel some of the drilling. This time, the tooth was totally numb and it wasn't anything like as bad as I feared because I felt nothing of the drilling. I don't mind the anaesthetic injection, that doesn't bother me. However, to fit the inlay the dentist apparently has to drill out the temp filling. He's told me no local anaesthetic is needed for this Confused. I am absolutely shitting myself now about going back.

When I felt the drilling last time it wasn't excruciating pain, just a bit sensitive at first and then ouchy, but it was terrifying because I didn't know if it was going to suddenly get worse Sad. I really hate having my teeth scaled too, for similar reasons. I just really hate the sensation of inflicted pain that makes me flinch. I'm now scared that removing the temp filling will be similar to my experience with the previous dentist.

It's not a root canal or anything big and complex, so my nerves in that tooth work just fine.

Has anyone had this done?

I would image he won't be going near the nerve so you will have no pain, if it was going to be painful he would use anaesthetic. :) (work for a dentist)
