CountessOlenska · 09/02/2012 12:59

DH away, sod's law I get stomach pains which GP thinks might be inflamed gallbladder. Antibiotics prescribed, and blood test results tomorrow.

DH due back Monday afternoon. It would be possible gie him to get a flight tomorrow morning but not over weekend. I am at home with dcs, 10 and 3. No-one else to help with them.
Am upset as don't want to summon him, but am worried in case need more treatment- o wise MUmsnetters, what should I do?

Given the predicted snowfall Countess I'd get him back asap.

Cholycystitis is bloody painful & the 3 yr old won't understand you need to rest.

Hope you feel better soon. Keep drinking water, little & often.

CountessOlenska · 10/02/2012 02:12

Thanks for that. Am having middle of night worries now; no fun. Why does this stuff always happen at worst possible time?!

Countess everything will probably be fine, but, I would err on the side of caution and get him home. I have had an inflamed gallbladder and bile duct for 3 months - waiting for an op following more tests - and have been lucky enough not to suffer any major complications from it, but these things can escalate without much warning so best to stay close until you're sorted.

I am assuming you are on the waiting list for an op. Additionally, you must be in pain too which will be an added pressure on top of looking after 2 DCs. You need your DH and you need to rest. Hope he gets his flight today. Take care.

Bossybritches22 · 10/02/2012 07:00

How are you this morning Countess ?

CountessOlenska · 10/02/2012 07:46

Thanks for asking, am ok, but feel a bit wobbly, think with all the stress apart from anything.

Have asked DH try to get home; had told him I would try to Be Brave, but have failed!

Doc ringing with blood test results later, so hopefully will be a help.

Sorry you been suffering, did you have gallstones before? This seems out of the blue. Must be rubbish going on for months.

countess I am totally sure that you haven't failed in being brave. Illness takes over and you have your DCs to care for so you have a lot on your hands. It is also very stressful waiting for test results, so you are doing brilliantly.

I have gallstones and have had some complications but I am finally getting some really good care and can see an end to this.

I hope your blood tests come back soon and with good results. Let us know how you get on. There are a huge amount of gallstone / gallbladder sufferers on mumsnet so lots of experience, advice and support. I have found it invaluable.

CountessOlenska · 10/02/2012 12:21

Got blood test results; just slightly raised White count so bit infection, they reckon. But all else normal- I feel most relieved. GP says keep taking antibiotics and hopefully no other action necessary just now.

Thanks to both of you; is big help, as I never expect to find myself unwell (who does?) and was completely stressing.

Will read up on this now on the other threads as want to see what might happen and try to eat to avoid it, no fun, as you know.

Just a tip if it is gallstones - 0% fat diet. Seriously.

I had months of pain, that I couldnt work out, finally went to docs when it was so bad I couldnt do anything.

Was put onto a zero fat diet straight away while waiting for blood results etc and it helped immensley. Was that was for about 3 weeks til I had my op to have gallbladder out.

HTH and you can get some rest.

BambinoBoo · 10/02/2012 12:58

countess that is good news. Just something that occurred to me, have you been diagnosed wih gallstones by ultrasound or is this a guess by the doctor? If not, I would push for a scan as that is the only way to diagnose for sure. Then you can get on waiting list for op. I was diagnosed last April but my silly GP said that it could be managed with a low fat diet which I now know was very bad advice.

So, DCs permitting, get as much rest as you can today. If you want to ask any questions, just shout. There loads of dicky gallbladder girlies out there. Grin

CountessOlenska · 10/02/2012 13:10

Thanks, sounds like good advice. Could stand to lose a few pounds anyway, may be good for me. That was quick getting yours out. Maybe for the best, will see how mine goes...

That might be a good idea bambinoboo. It is a guess at present; GP did mention a scan, will check that's happening.

Am snuggled on sofa with dc2 letting him watch loads of tv; he is a snuggly boy and enjoying this.

Thanks again all

I was a severe case though Blush Had left it so long, and my liver blood results were through the roof.... by A LOT. Doctor actually had a call from the blood lab and I called immediately to get my arse up to the docs. It was a friday evening, and doctor was on the phone to the weekend surgical team to see if they wanted me in right away!

Had the scan on the tuesday or wednesday following and then 2 weeks and I was in theatre.

I lived on grilled chicken and fish and steamed veg! Was boring but necessary to avoid the excruciating pain.

Good luck and hope all goes ok x

I ended up with serious complications with mine. I was dx'ed pretty much straight away, and sent home. I then got a blockage and ended your turning yellow because of kidney block and pancreatitis. I spent 3 weeks in hospital then had op.

I hope dh makes it home and def recommend 0% fat. I lived on rice and chicken mostly.

Sounds like you have all had pretty awful times Sad

I will definitely act quickly if it gets worse, and press doc on Monday for scan date.

Am really glad I went to GP straight away- maybe cos I was on my own and anxious about dcs.

Haven't been hungry for anything yet, but will heed the no fat advice. Rubbish, isn't it?

Thanks all
