Really bad PVCs/skipped beats/heart flutters

About 12 months ago or so I started having these strange heart sensations - I think most people refer to them as PVCs or skipped beats. They feel quite scary and I went to the doctor about it. I had an ECG and a heart "echo", as well as a 24 hour heart monitor. Of course all results came back normal! I had a few months when they went away but then they came back, but only the odd one now and then.

I am currently on day three of a really bad flu and since yesterday they were back. I went to the GP today about my flu and mentioned it but she didn't seem interested. They are really bad tonight. Quite scary. I was trying to read to my dd earlier and had to stop because of it.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I get them on and off - generally nothing to worry about. Mine make me black out about once every 10 years. Spent a year on medication at one point to try and control them but turns out the medication made them worse! They tend to be worse when you're tired, sick, stressed, hungover dehydrated etc. If they didn't find anything sinister when they did the echo then try not to worry. But do go back to the GP if they start making you dizzy etc.

Thanks Blackpudding! That's reassuring. I have spent many hours Googling this in the past and it seems to be quite common, but just a bit scary!

I have had the 24 hour ecg (sandpaper treatment too, was painful!), a heart echo etc and was diagnosed with this. Dr said if it got really bad standing up and walking around can stop it, I find mine mostly happens when sitting still and is always much much worse when hung over.

My cardio doc always says as
Long as your resting when they come it's normally fine.
I have had echo, 24 hour, exercise tests, 7 day monitor and even had pacing wires put it. There is no reason for mine at all. They did insist I stop caffeine of all kinds, so try that (didn't work for me). Sad

Lucjam - me too - it usually happens when I am just sitting on the sofa!
Lisad - I have also been told that about caffeine. But the only caffeine I have is one cup of coffee in the morning and i have been having that for over 10 years... So I struggle to believe that would be the cause for me.

Thank you ladies.

Everyonne hass the odd PVC (AKA VE, ectopics) - they are actually an extra beat, not a skipped beat.

If the 24 hour monitor and echo were normal then you are just one of those people who feel them, some people do, others don't.
