Could this be asthma?

In the past week and a half I've had there separate occasions where I've had a bit of trouble breathing. Not struggling, but felt like a heavy weight has been on my chest. I've had this a few times over the past few years, but not a few incidences together so close.

I've had pneumonia twice in my life, and used to get bad chest colds each winter around this time when I lived in a much colder climate (and v stressed at work).

No other sign of a cold, so wondering if I might be developing asthma. Both DM and DSis (mildly) suffer from it. But they both were/are smokers.

Worth going to GP? Or wait to see if it's a nasty cold beginning? Don't want to waste their time unnecessarily.

Thanks!

Yes could be asthma although v mild . Maybe you need a ventolin for occasional use?

Doesn't sound like asthma to be to be honest. Stress? Mild panic attack?

I don't know whether it's asthma but I would definitely see your GP about it.

If it is, you don't want to wait until you have a really big attack. If you get kitted out with the right inhalers + peak flow meter you will be prepared.

Also you may get some allergy tests which may give you some idea of what might trigger attacks.

Thanks everyone.

Will make an appt with GP, as lots of dust and wool (wearing or using a wool blanket) give me the same reaction/feeling. Similar to the feeling I get when I have bad bronchitis.

reenypip I know why you're flagging stress, but it's not really coinciding with stressful times. I've had a few in the past and nothing like this occurred. When referring to stress in my op it was more explaining that I would get really run down to the point that a bad cold developed into a serious chest infection because I wouldn't take time/did really long hours when sick. More overworked then stressed iyswim? Good thinking though.
