Went to GP yesterday as my right index finger had been swollen for about 10 days, had developed little red spots and was itchy, had also spread to 2 other fingers on same hand....had been swelling on and off for couple years actually and sometimes finger would go numb and completely white, has also happened to feet the odd time lately and now sometimes a finger on the other hand.GP said it was raynauds disease and the red spots were chillblains and cant give me anything to get the swelling down only to make sure I wear a very good pair of clothes when I go out.Looked it up on google and cant see anything about swelling with raynauds so wondering if anyone else has had this and how do you help to prevent it?my fingers are so sore and stiff at the moment..

I have it really bad even when weather isn't that cold and it's been horendous this week, it's getting me down. (it's mostly in my right hand)

I get numbness and I think I get slight swelling in the morning but goes very quickly so by the time I've woken up properly it's too late to take a photo.

I'm having other problems too like joint pains for the past 8 months and we can't get to the bottom of it.

Have you any other complaints?

I have it in my hands, face & feet. Been really bad in my hands this week because of it being so cold. I get numbness. I also go white with a tint of blue then my hands go bright red and really hot when the blood goes pumping back thru.
I also have trochanteric bursitis in my hips which gives me extra swelling along with the raynards. Fibromyalgia & severe joint hypermobility so its just goes along with it tbh.
Just remember lots of layers and good thick socks, gloves & hat for when you go out.

I have it but have never had any swelling, just the white numb fingers and toes.

I don't go out of the house without gloves between October and March!

This winter I have tried taking cinammon capsules as they are supposed to boost circulation. I do seem to have had fewer episodes but it has been a very mild winter until the past few days so I am not sure whether or not they have helped.

Wore 2 pairs of gloves out today which helped but after coming back inside one of my fingers is so numb and white,GP never said why finger is swollen past 10days,as I said have had it before but swelling would go in 4-5 days. The chilblains are so itchy anyone else get these..what helps them?,other symptoms but might not be connected are tiredness and dizzy spells for last couple years and feeling so cold, find supermarkets freezing..had a few fainting episodes last september and GP tested for anaemia and thyroid and they came back fine.He didnt seem too worried yesterday just said to wear a good pair of gloves and take cod liver oil(yuk) but will get some..anyone take it,does it help?Read a little on the internet about it and lupus was mentioned as a secondary condition,so a little bit worried right now..

mine turned out to be thyroid but I had the raynaulds for a few years before the thyroid tipped into 'abnormal'
I've been on thyroid tablets a few months and have lovely warm toasty fingers and toes even this week
this summer i had blue fingers in august!!
so - just cos you had your thyroid tested once, keep on getting it tested as often as the gp will let you, and ask to see the results, and then ask how close they are to the end of the reference range!!
If I'd have known all this earlier, I'd have been a lot more pro-active about my test results!

I have Raynauds in my fingers, they swelled up so badly 2 Christmas's ago i had to cut my rings off... mine too go blue at the slightest hint of a cold wind.

I tried something called Snowfire, which mountaineers used one year, and it helped, but very difficult to get hold of...Black Pepper oil (from healthfood shop) also helps, a couple of drops in almond oil rubbed in, is warm and soothing and supposed to get the circulation going.

My Rheumatologist (Raynauds is also associated with Arthritus and i'm hypermobile too) pointed me in the direction of the Raynauds Association, that have gloves with silver in them for sale, she said a lot of her patients swear by them but i haven't tried them yet.
