my DS is due his first MMR jabs next week, i have read about the side affects and how they can be worse than other vaccinations side affects which worries me, i also read it is a live dose of MMR they inject DS with and as i live with my two sister one who is 2 years and other just 2 weeks, neither of them have had their vaccinations against MMR and i am worried of the risk it may pose to both of them and if DS has a live dose of MMR, i know when i ask the GP she will say it's fine as they have every other time i have asked questions at previous appointments! so just wondered if it is best to wait or if it really is 'safe' for DS to have MMR and it not affect my two sisters?!

It's safe. Seriously, just do it. The "side effects" of the real diseases can be far worse.

They can't catch it from your Ds having the vaccine so don't worry on that note.

No vaccines are 'safe' totally. they may be safe for some and not for others. If they were totally 'safe' why does the manufacturer list side effects with the package insert.

Inform yourself, talk to your doctor, you can even get an appointment with the head of vaccination at the hospital.

For starters read the manufacturers sheet about when and how the vaccine should be given and the possible side effects.

I think that is the right one for the uk, if not you can find out.

Do not vaccinate if you child has the slightest cold, or is recovering from a cold. Think about giving immune boosting foods, vitamins on the day and around the day of vaccination. The MMR is a live vaccine, my own son got measles from it, as have many others. Take your time and do whats right for YOU not from the fear pushing brigade.

No vaccine can be called 100% safe, even the people who make it don't say that.
