I have psoriasis. Have tried almost everything but have ended up just trying to live with it as there is no cure. Tried lotions and potions, steroids, UVA and UVB. Visits to the Dead Sea and being pregnant worked best!

There is a brilliant forum which I found very helpful and welcoming

I've had psoriasis since 1991, after a really nasty throat infection. I've tried various creams and lotions, both OTC and through the GP, with absolutely no effect whatsoever. I resigned myself to just keeping it moisturised with whatever was to hand and always wearing long sleeves and/or opaque tights.

In 2009 I had some blood tests done and my B12 was low in range. I started supplementing and there was an immediate improvement that has been sustained.

Later on I started taking Vitamin D supplements on medical advice and there was a further improvement.

When the NHS finally acknowledged that I had a thyroid problem and started treating that, my psoriasis improved again and it has now almost disappeared.

I'm not saying it would work for everyone, but for someone who often could not bend her arms without the cracking and bleeding (you know how it is), this is life changing.

Have any of you tried Raptiva?

DH suffers from psoriasis but manages to keep it under control. When I met him, his head was raw from it. I convinced him to take cod liver oil tables with a high concentration of omega 3 and to use TGel shampoo. He keeps his hair short because the sunlight on the scalp helps, once his hairs gets to an inch in length you can see he's troubled. He has also developed a patch on his shin which isn't too bag and he sometimes uses dovonex (or dovobet, I can't remember which one doesn't have the steroid element). He has psoriasis in his nails and unfortunately we've not found anything to help with this.
