Very Very snotty baby

DS is ill. (9 months old). Has been since Tuesday. I don't think I have ever seen a baby quite so snotty! He is so bunged up he can't take his bottles and if he does manage a tiny bit - took 1/2 oz at bedtime (took him 10 mins to do so!) and then prompty chucked it all up because of all the mucous!

I have raised his mattress, put Karvol in the room, given Medised. I have tried saline nose drops but he goes histerical and then won't take his bottle anyway!!. So not having a lot of luck trying to ease the discomfort for him.

Any tips. If there anything I haven't thought of? Help needed. Please.

if you have a steam steriliser, you could try putting loads of water in it andleaving it in his room , well away from cot with lid, off. sorry to be crude but is his snot green?

I made the bathroom really steamy at bathtime in a hope it would help. The snot came down, and down, and down, and still when I tried to give him his bottle, he still couldn't breathe. Poor him. How long do they have to be in a steamy room before it helps?

if its dark yellow/gee could poss be a sign of infection. Sinusitus or something shoved up the nose whilst your not looking. If you don.t have a vapouriser, you can improvise, damp towel over the heater in your bubs room (if appropriate) central heating usually aggrivate bunged up noses, so bowels of water onthe radiators where you can. have oslo heard otrovine for childre v effective for clearing conjestion. avaliable over the couter.
ps loads of tissues
it will be no time befor ds is picking his nose!!!

Well I vacumed DS nose today.

I kid you not.

Here in Hungary you can buy something from the chemist to remove the mucous. Ours needed to be connected to the vacumn cleaner!!! It did work! You can also buy electronic ones and ones you physically suck!

Attached to a hoover! Never heard of that before! Did he let you do it!? Did it work btw?!

Ewww at physically suck!

Yep he let me do it - he's 4 though - just needs to learn to BLOW!! He liked the novelty and was desperate to show Daddy this evening - DH reckoned it was dangerous! Reckons it explains a lot about the Hungarians in his office!!!

The physically suck ones sound gross I agree but a friend has one and says it's good. you never "get" any too close!!
