Varicose Ovarian Vein - any experience of treatment?

I have a preliminary diagnosis of varicosity of the ovarian vein which has given me some pretty bad leg and vulval veins (tmi sorry!). My second (large) baby was born nearly three years ago and although they reduced immediately they are still a problem. Been told I need more tests/scans etc to be certain. Anyone got any experience of the scan which involves dye injections under a general anaesthetic (can it be done under local?) and what treatment did you get and did it work? I hope I get some responses as it isn't the sort of thing you can bring up down the pub with your mates so you are left feeling you are the only one in the world... (then again, maybe I am!)

I have this. I had a womb ablation 3 years ago to stop my periods so I wasn't getting the pressure on them every month. Now I've got other gynae problems and I need a hysterectomy.

No good to you if you want any more children!

The veins in my vulva are so sore atm, I find wearing a thick pad and tight pants help

Sorry to hear that coco. Not keen on tight clothes myself but I can see how it might help. I think they are talking about blocking off the ovarian vein once diagnosis is confirmed by scans/dye injections. They want to do dye/scan under general and I am not keen unless general is necessary. Did you have the dye/scan done and under what anaesthetic? Definitely no more kids for me as they caused the damned thing in the first place!!

No I never had the dye, but before my ablation the Dr mentioned he could see them on my womb. It was just a standard internal scan. Having no periods really helped. I am going for an mri scan before my hysterectomy so the Dr can see whats going on.
Good luck!
