How to persuade GP my throat/ear is worthy of antibiotics

I know that antibiotics no good for virus etc so no lectures please. I also know from bitter experience that the throat/ear thing I developed today is an infection as I have had many in the past and have always been sent away to rest and gargle for three days only to get iller and iller then get antibiotics three days later. This was pre kids though. Now I don't have time to be ill for three days.

So how do I persuade GP of this? Best thing is to say I've had it longer than I have and already rested and gargled right?

And in the meantime I have gargled and taken ibuprofen. Anything else I can do to numb the pain?

Have you tried the dequacaine throat lozenges?

The GP won't usually prescriobe unless they can see white spots of infection on your throat. Have you looked with a torch?

Go and talk to the pharmacy re throat lozenges with something to numb your throat in them . ( mind you the effect doesn't last that long).

One GP I saw suggested gargling with soluble asprin ( before taking it) to help numb my throat.

When I get like this I go to a private 'walk in' centre, that they have in central London.

I always walk out £60 lighter and with the much needed prescription. :)

But I can't afford to take an extra 3 days off work.....
