Hidden Gallstones...?

Just wondering if anyone has had this... I have now had three attacks of what the doctors have said is classic gallstone pain. Under right rib so sore can not touch, pain all round ribs and down the middle of my back. Pain lasts for hours and pin killers don't touch it but it goes by its self and then tender for a day or so. The first time this happened I got sent to the hospital they checked for infection (was none) and arranged ultra sound for a couple of days later. Thing is no stones showed up.

Exactly same pain happened 4 months later but in day time and my gp wouldn't see me for 6 hours and by that time I had stopped rolling round in agony and then again this week. (2 months later) My gp has said lets see if it happens again.... Don't think he believes me it's as bad as I say ( I would say worse than labour ) or he doesn't know what to do with me seeing as I have already been checked for stones.

My question is has anyone had gallstones that weren't found at first on a scan? Should I push for a second scan?

I had two bad attacks of classic gallstone pain and had an ultrasound which showed nothing. My consultant came around and said he'd send me an appointment for a scan with someone specialising in detecting gallstones with a more sensitive machine. He said they often pick up 'sludge' with this machine and even if they don't they will recommend the gallbladder gets taken out anyhow 'just in case'.
I got home and had a wee google and read that no one could prove that this sludge could cause problems so decided to just wait and see what happened. 4 years later, I haven't changed my diet at all, and have had no recurrence.
In your case I'd def ask for a second scan as the pain is ongoing.
Good luck.
