Woman with a Moustache...

OK. This is it. It's no longer a light dustying of dark. I'm fairly paranoid and I've lived with it for 45 years, but now, in the sunlight, there are clearly a little patch of hairs on either side of my mouth. They started growing long and strong after my sister in law advised me to pluck. The single worst bit of beauty related advice I have ever been given...

I'm scared to share or wax as when I do either on my leg I often get itching and ingrowing stuff. What if that happens on my lip? Has that happened to any of you? Laser etc is meant to be bad for dark (olive) skinned people as can scar.Or should I just pluck forever, daily?

Any advice. Desperate.

I've got similar, I go to superdrug and pay the nice lady £7.50 for eyebrows and what they euphamistically call top lip but I call tache.
It's one of those things that you'll need to accept.

Plucking vanquished mine eventually...

You may find that you don't need to spend so much time on your legs now. That's God's way of ensuring you have the time to vanquish the tache.

I am beauty therapist. You could try just bleaching using Jolene bleach. Or using Veet or Nair cream.* Patch test first for sensitivity. Threading is another option but I would say that it would be more painful than waxing on the upper lip. Usually ingrown hairs are found on legs & bikini area & occasionally I get the odd one under my arm as I wax. I've never seen ingrown hairs on the upper lip as it is a different type of hair.

Tash wax occasionally with a bit of plucking in between when needed. Works for me.

I use hair removing cream, can't remember which one. It's especally for the face and comes with a wee brush. Works in 3 minutes. I usally do it at night then smear sudacream on my lip.

Electrolysis. Takes ages and ages and isn't cheap, but once it's gone, it's gone forever :)

Same here....some really long dark hairs too! I have a 6-weekly wax with some tweezering inbetween. It hurts like hell, though! Have been doing this for....6/7 years? I like to think there is less hair, but I'm not totally convinced. Anyway, never had an ingrown hair. I did react initially, with some spots come up, but this quickly settled.

Laser treatment is £55 for me. Hurts like a hot needle being driven in your face but lessens the hair. I need to go every 6 weeks and I've had six treatments in 4 years as can barely afford it.

Vaniqa cream on prescription taken at same time as being on pill worked for me but not allowed it while ttc, pg or bf so had to stop and hair came back. Chin too.
