Anyone know anything about chest pain?

Dh had some pains and tightness in his chest while at work the other day, he's in the middle of an intensive project at the moment so he put it down to indigestion and ignored it. The pain has come back today and he had some antacids with him so took a couple but they didn't help.

He has (after a bit of nudging) taken himself to A&E (near his work 30 miles away), I expected them to do an ECG and send him away saying it was just a muscle but they haven't, they have done the ECG then they decidied to take some bloods and he is to have some "tongue medicine" (sorry, he is communicating by text) and then another ECG.

Does anyone know if this is standard or if they may think there is something up?

standard if someone presents with chest pain.

bloods will look at specific enzymes which will show if some cardiac muscle is damaged.

doesn't mean definitely something is up - just covering all bases just in case.

Great, thank you. He's had Clopidogrel, Aspirin and GTN and will soon have another CTG and a chest x-ray. I shall carry on as normal until I hear more then.

Now he has had Fragmin and is off for his x-ray. I am guessing to rule out a clot. They gave him a little snack box of goodies so they can't be thinking it is anything serious.

I love the NHS, they are so good for things like this.

Could be muscular if he's had it a couple of days running?

I'm not really sure what is going on but he has been admitted for further testing although he says the tests they have done so far have been clear. They seem to be being super-duper careful.

They always very careful with heart and chest. Try not to panic

I've just got him home now. :) After a load of tests it seems that he had a viral infection in the wall of his heart which caused some inflammation resulting in the pain and in a slight oddness to the "ST" part of his heartbeat.
