Hello, as my thread title says, I'm waiting to see the gynae oncology team next week as my GP suspects ovarian cancer. I know it's relatively unusual in pre-menopausal women but it's complicated for me as I have Crohn's Disease. I've been having really terrible stomach pains since July which I knew weren't part of my normal Crohn's problems, so I went for an ultrasound in Nov which showed that my spleen is enlarged, and again in Dec which showed a 6 cm cyst on one of my ovaries. Oh, and gallstones too. Nice!

I'm having lots of pain in my stomach (esp. in the lower abdo and on the left where my spleen is) ann am taking painkillers a lot Sad. I'm also soooo exhausted - I got sent home by one of my tutors today who even offered to drive me home, bless him. It's like I've been run over by a steamroller, physically - I'm just completely wiped out. I've been feeling a bit low emotionally today as I hoped I'd feel better after going to bed super-early yesterday but still woke up this morning feeling rubbish. I'm a postgrad student and normally really passionately love my work but am just not able to function very well at all. Also feeling like a bit of a substandard mother to my 2 fantastic dc.

So if anyone feels inclined towards a spot of virtual hand-holding while I wait to hear what's what, I'd be v. grateful! Smile

When will you get the results? You must be exhausted. Sleep well.

How you feeling today Holo? Hope you're managing to eat something.you need to keep your strength up. Have you tried peppermint tea? It's meant to be soothing for the bowels and does acrually taste quite nice! Brew

Hi Salad!

I am tired! DH went back to work today so I've been back in the role of looking after the dc before and after school. They are really good kids but obviously, like all dc, need a fair bit of looking after one way or another. I spoke to my college supervisor yesterday who was absolutely lovely and told me I could take time out, no pressure to do any work right now, he's spoken to the right people and they'll take all this into consideration when marking my work (I'm doing a Master's and my exam is this summer Shock). I'm quite a hardworking student and I'm doing my Master's at the same university that I did my undergrad degree at (graduated last year), so they know me well enough to know that I'm not a slacker. I'm hoping to go on to do a PhD so I really hope that I don't mess up the Master's.

So all I've done today is to get the dc off to school, nip into college v. briefly after that, have a 1 hr conversation with a tutor, set up a meeting with another tutor who is helping me with a piece of work, go home and watch Jonathan Creek and fall asleep before the dc got home, then ds had 2 friends round...and now I'm shattered, and feel v. sick! I'm usually full of energy so this feels really crap tbh.

I'm eating more now - I'm taking fewer painkillers and I think they really suppressed my appetite. I had a sandwich for lunch but am not even slightly hungry now. I drink gallons of fluids though, lots of cups of tea of various sorts! Smile

How are you? Have you had a good day?

Sorry didn't get a chance to check back on you last night, usual story my DC running me ragged!
That sounds like quite a lot you managed yesterday. You do sound very diligent but hopefully your supervisor/tutor have reassured you that the pressure is off re your work and reminded you that your health MUST come first.I can imagine it must be hard for you as you sound really well motivated and a hard worker! What are you studying for your Master's?
I'm off on the school run now and then the dentist but hopefully will be around later or tomorrow if you want company.
Good to hear you are keeping your fluids up. DD1 has just had 2 lots of antibiotics for tonsilitus, now awaiting results of tests for glandular fever. So worrying when she couldn't eat or drink anything. She survived on ice cubes for the first few days.
Get plenty of rest while DC are still at school as I'm sure you'll be busy later. Grin
