So sore, and cracking at the side of one of my fingers

Tried E45, and the expensive tube Hemp Cream from Body Shop which I cant afford at the moment

Any other ideas

neutrogena can't remember exact name - sorry, but small white tube with blue lid.

I don't like that bodyshop stuff!

Or if you live near a dairy farmer go and ask him for some udder cream Grin trust me it's the best!

midlandsnightnannybabysitter · 17/01/2012 23:16

Definitely nuetrogena (so?) it's brill & recommended by dermatologistsSmile

twincrazy · 17/01/2012 23:17

I use Palmers cocoa hand cream. I get terribly cracked knuckles and although it is rather gloopy it seems to work well.

bibbitybobbityhat · 17/01/2012 23:18

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is the one I think you're thinking of Caz.

OP - what do you wash your hands with? My hands get incredibly dry with rough fingertips if I wash with antibacterial soap like carex or equivalent.

cazboldy · 17/01/2012 23:19

yep - we live on a dairy farm..... but only on my hands! Wink

cazboldy · 17/01/2012 23:20

yes bibbitybobbity it is - thanks Smile

Wolfiefan · 17/01/2012 23:20

YY Neutrogena. I have also used gloves in a bottle with hand cream on top. Also wear real gloves whenever poss.

Beamur · 17/01/2012 23:23

My DP swears by something called 'climb on' cream, it's for climbers who regularly shred their hands by clambering about on sharp rocks! It's pricey but a little goes a very long way - you'd get it from outdoor shops.
Failing that, something simple and unperfumed, slathered on at bedtime and wear some cotton gloves overnight.

Beamur · 17/01/2012 23:24

Plus make sure you wear rubber gloves when cleaning or hand washing anything.

cardamomginger · 18/01/2012 09:02

Lotil. Cheap and really good, including for cracking. Whichever cream you use you MUST you it each time you wash your hands. And make sure you dry properly. It's horrid and so miserable Sad.

MarksPA · 18/01/2012 22:34

Also recommend using moisture gloves with your cream of choice. I have the plain white cotton moisture gloves from Tesco (possibly own brand) and are as cheap as chips. Fab investment if you can sleep with them on overnight. Also have the Tesco moisture foot socks which are fab with foot cream overnight. I just look gorgeous going to bed....glad dh works away during the week! lol

MarksPA · 18/01/2012 22:37

Sorry Beamur, just noticed you'd already recommended. I'm a bit overtired. :)

CJ2010 · 20/01/2012 10:09

Had exactly the same problem OP, try Kiehls hand cream, it's amazing.

good tip is to rub olive oilor coconut or almond oil into ur hands a few times a day really helps soften them and it is absorbed easily into the skin. if u keep forgetting, if u cook with olive oil every time ur cooking just rub it over your hands. i really see a difference in my skin when using oils.
