Hi! I have just been told I have prolapsed bladder...I am 58 and devastated, I really didn't expect this just yet! Anyone of a similar age in the same situation? I have read up quite a bit since finding out I had this condition but if anyone has any help/advice/tips I would love to hear from you. Thank you!

Hello there! Thank you so much for your reply it is very comforting to know there are others in the same situation. I am VERY reluctant to have surgery to be honest but haven't ruled it out altogether. It does seem to be a closed subject so it was very refreshing to see that Mumsnet members do talk about these things quite openly :)
I am seeing a Physiotherapist next week and will have a chat with her and certainly will look at the website you suggest for pelvic floor exercises. I am delighted your operation went well I am sure, when successful, these procedures give so much relief.
Once again many thanks for your response.

Age is not the only factor- I had mine fixed when i was 35 after my 2nd DC.

The operation is usually a success but you have to pick a surgeon who does it regularly and who you feel confident in.

You do need to take care afterwards- like any major op- a good 6 weeks recovery and no heavylifting then, or ever!

You might get some improvement with PF exercises but if not, the op is the other option.

Hi Ameliagrey! This is very encouraging as I have heard of so many ladies who have had an operation but with little or no success. I would indeed take the plunge if I thought there was a surgeon in my area that was really good at fixing this problem.

I will give the PF a chance and if this doesn't improve things I shall have to investigate further.

Thank you so much for responding :)

I also had an anterior repair this year which has been a success. It took 7 weeks before I went back to work but I'm so pleased with the results. I'm 41.

Hi Footle! Thank you for this information...I really appreciate it. So glad things went so well for you :)

I had anterior and posterior repair about 11 wks ago and all is well. I was told that only surgery would fix mine and it has been very effective. I am only 35.

There is a long running thread about things like that. I cant link on my phone sorry. I had a prolapse at 32.
