Sterilising toys and teethers?

My DS often puts his toys etc in his mouth and I am wondering whether anyone has any recommendations on how to go about sterilising his toys on a regular basis (as they fall on the floor etc)? Is there some kind of product eg wipes available? Many thanks!

don't bother! it's good tfor the immune system!

Nah, you'd never mange to keep up. A few germs are good for the immune system anyway. Dont worry.

why?

fisil · 16/01/2006 21:28

we don't even sterlise bottles!

If things got really bad (dropped on a wet road!)I would put toys in the dishwasher

Just wash them in hot soapy water if they get visibly dirty. They do not need sterilising, it's a natural part of growing up to get a few germs in your mouth.

If there was a need for this, someone would be making money out of it. By the time they are old enough to move around bit and get stuff in their mouths they are ready for it. Also, it's still their primary sensory organ and so it how they get most of their information about objects so try not to deter him and don't worry!

I tried this with a rattle once and it melted all over the steam steriliser

Now I just rinse them when they get slimy

Chill out HayBaby - How old is your DS!!? He'll be fine, a little dirt/germs is good for them - Give 'em a scrub in hot soapy water if they get too grimy, but don't worry!!

I ONCE put some of dd's toys in the steam steriliser as a cold-y baby had been chewing on them and dd wasn't very old. Never again - they melted.
