Managing Raynauds

I think that's what I've got, I think it's reasonably mild. I've had one day where my fingers were without feeling for 20 mins, and then absolute agony for about 15 (serious pain, I don't generally cry and it had me in tears.

Currently wearing thin gloves plus ski gloves when out, but today have got out of bed with the middle and ring finger on my right hand white and numb. Can't wear gloves in the house!

How do you manage it?

BTW, not diagnosed by any doctor other than Google.

I don't have Raynauds, but have issues with one hand that makes it very sensitive to cold (and painful). I wear fleece wristwarmers in the house - I find that keeps it all pretty warm as these ones come right down over your knuckles.

Worth going to the Dr though, just to check its Raynauds and not your blood vessels/nerves getting trapped

I have this problem, the most helpful thing for me is keeping some of the rest of the limb extra warm - so long socks (rather than extra pair of short socks) and gloves that go further up the wrist. Was talking to a dr about various infusions and beta blockers and something about vaso dilators (or the opposite?) but apparently they are rarely helpful. I probably shouldn't smoke. One day they will amputate my fingers and toes I think? :(

Those are fantastic, CMOT Really brilliant.

Hmmm, I do smoke. No sign of quitting at the moment, either.

I have had this since I was a child, the blood drains out of my fingers and I have to shake it back in. Loose fitting ski gloves really help and I have heat pads for if I know I will be out in the cold for a long time. When it's really cold I wear pop socks or cut off tights under my socks. I was told that beta blockers made your circulation worse when I was prescribed them for migraine Confused.

It sertainly sounds like Raynauds OP.I am diganosed with Raynauds, i've had it for about 15 years but only diagnosed for 1 year. I have it pretty severely in both hands, feet are fine! The doctor said she had never seen it so bad and took photos. My fingers go completely white right down to the baseof the fingers and they really look like they are dead. They then go through various stages of white, purple, blue and finally bright red and sweaty before they come back to life. to be honest no gloves work for me, and i've tried lots, i am now on a tablet which i can take daily if i think i'm going to be cold. But even opening the freezer and getting peas out is enough for me to be in severe pain.
I simply cant function when they are at their worst, as the pain is very intense. Raynauds have a quite useful website.
