So are we all agreed that wet combing is the best treatment for NITS?

dd1 is infested! Not too stressed as we have managed to avoid it for 6 years. I had a feeling that the hive mind of mumsnet recommended wet combing so have duly bought nit comb and conditioner. Is it not a good idea to use chemicals?

Her best friend keeps getting them and her mum uses the dog insecticide shampoo on her

Ok so i ended up getting 16 live lice out of dd's hair, and lots of eggs, yuk!! I had my friend check mine with the comb and conditioner and i seem to be free from them - for now!!

Should i check dd's hair every day?

TIA

No pucca, any left in your daughter's head hould be too small to get with the comb now. You need to leave it a few days for more to hatch out and grow (sorry). Comb very thoroughly every 2 to 3 days for at least 2 weeks. It's a good idea to keep checking your own head during this time and others in the family or you can pass them back and forth.

At the next combing you should only see little lice, not big ones. If there are big ones, you probably missed a few last time and they may have been laying more eggs - you need to break the cycle. Good luck.
