Pale and tired dd2 -what would you do?

Hi
I just wanted a bit of advice, please, in case I am being over-anxious Smile

DD2 is 7.For a few weeks now, she has looked really pale and has very little energy. At first, I thought that the pre-Christmas run-up had taken it out of her.

Recently,I've been putting it down to some later nights over the holidays, and getting back into the school routine;etc.

However, she looked awful when she came out of school tonight-white faced and drained.
She's even starting to talk about dropping her after-school activities because she is too worn out.

I'm making sure she has early nights and eats well and am making sure she gets fresh air as well as down-time.

Are other people's dc like this at this time of year, or do you think I should be concerned? I don't want to rush in and take her to the GP if it's just that she's a bit run-down, but nor do I want her to be feeling rotten. WWYD?
TIA, have to go out now but will be back later.

I would take her to be the GP. Lots of children are tired in the run up to Christmas but if she is still very tired and pale and it's affecting her wanting to do the fun things like clubs then I would want the GP to check her over.

She might have a virus or glandular fever or something like that. Would get her checked to be on the safe side

I'd get her to the GP and inisist on blood tests. It's most likely nothing but could be something and you don't want something more sinister go undetected. Could also just be some sort of deficiency but you say yourself, it's been going on for a few weeks now and she voluntarily wants to drop activities she likes.

You're not over-anxious. You're sensible and responsible.

Get her to the GP I'd say just to rule out a medical cause. I spend several years of my childhood looking pale, tired and run down and every time mum took me in they tested me for anaemia. I never had it (and they never did figure out what was wrong with me, it went away on its own eventually) but it's apparently quite common.

Thanks everyone, I will go with what you say and make a GP appointment. You have reassured me that I'm not being OTT.
I think, deep down, I know she needs checking out, but actually feel a bit scared about it.

I know that might sound silly-it's just that I got a shock when she came out of school tonight, she looked so pale with really dark circles under her eyes.

She had a virus before Christmas, so maybe it's linked to that?
I will phone tomorrow morning, though.

Thanks again.
