Gallbladder op

Hi I'm sort of new but been here few years back and lurking on and off since. Anyway after years of waiting I'm finally getting my gallbladder out on Monday morning and starting to get a little nervous as never been under anesthetic before and worried about pain afterwards. Was just wondering if anybody had encouraging stories to help set my mind at ease.

TIA

Hi op I had gall bladder removed five years ago I was in and out the same day and had keyhole surgery felt groggy for a few days and sore but not too bad did take around six weeks off work though as I have a physical job, make sure you have someone at home for a few days to help out if you can and good luck you'll be fine I'm sure, best thing I did getting rid of it!

GA's are fab, no 'hangover' effect these days (GA veteran here hehee) Pain will be well managed post-op, DH had gallbladder op six years ago and was fine.
Only word of advice I want to impress on you - follow whatever instructions they give you for not lifting / how to move (if it's relevant). I learned the hard way that this advice isn't given just so you can choose if you want to listen or not. DO it!! Wink

Hello
I can not really talk about gallbladder but I did have key hole surgery last year and was put asleep. I was absolutely terrified and it was one thing I have always dreaded. But I have to say it was actually quite nice. If you let them know you are nervous when you arrive they may bump you up the list, I was 2nd. They chatted to me as I lay down and start tapping my hand, they must habve given me something as immediately I felt so relaxed and my worries seemed to lessen. Then he told me he was about to the give me the aneasthesia and I would feel sleepy in half a minute. I did not count and just took a few deep breaths and then I woke up after it all! You feel like you lost time, strange. I was worried I would panic in that last moment, but you don't. In fact when they were bringing me around I did not want to open my eyes as I felt so cosy and sleepy. It was a lovely feeling. I was discharged two hours later. If there ever is a next time I will not worry at all.
Good luck!

My ten year old had her gall bladder out last year , she was fine and back to her normal crazy self after a week , she stayed in for two nights as she was so young but the whole thing was fine ... In fact she only cried once and that was because she missed her sisters !!
