Hi there

I was wondering if anyone else had heard of or experienced the Mirena causing PMS/Mood Swings/Depression? I am nearly 30, I have 2 young children and have never suffered from PMS (only minor cramps every so often). About 6 months ago I had the Mirena Coil inserted and about 3/4 months ago I started to have quite severe mood swings. I have always prided myself on my patient but no nonsense approach to raising my children (with my husband) but since I have been having the mood swings it's like I am being patient with telling my ch ildren to do something but then all of a sudden I can feel an erruption coming and I just loose control of my emotions, after the outburst I of course feel guilty and disappointed in myself but also a sense of relief. I am feeling generally more down and also having the other pms side affects of cramps too. The thing that got me thinking there may be a link was when I watched The Food Hospital recently, there was a case of a lady who had extreme PMS and both my husband and I said that sounded like me, I realised the only thing which may have affected my hormones to cause me to be more prone to PMS was having the coil. I have since done a little research and seen that other woman have felt the same, there was even a link on this website dating back to 2009 which the women all agreed (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/feeling_depressed/551551-mirena-coil-and-depression-anxiety/allononepage)

If anyone has any information I would be really keen to hear, I am going to make an appointment with my GP soon and would like to know if there is any more recent connections?

Thank you :)

My gp is insisting I get my coil removed asap, as he is (as I am) 100% convinced it has caused my severe pms.
