tiredness after operation

I had an operation a week before xmas, nothing massively major, it was done by keyhole surgery. I got an infection and had to go on antibiotics a week ago.

I went for a drive this afternoon, only 10-15 minutes as it was the first time since the operation. Afterwards I was so tired that I could fall asleep and I'm still really tired 2 hours later. I've been tired a lot since the operation, normally I am up and about before 6am but I have been staying in bed until 8am - not asleep but resting. I am due to go back to work next week depending what the doctor says on Friday but I honestly don't see how I can - my job is a physical one and i will be on my feet all day.

Does anybody have any useful suggestions? There must be something I can do to relieve being so tired.

Thanks.

Hi Sunny just to say I also had keyhome surgery a week before xmas with antibiotics after for a week. I felt knackered too, even just doing the dishes made me so tired i had to go have a little lie down! This week has been a lot better i found things improved after the course of antibiotics. Hope that helps a little.

HI no advice really but I had a procedure under GA a while ago and also felt tired and washed out for maybe a month after. Hope you feel better soon Smile

Hi Pink, how is your recovery going? I'm less tired than I was as well, just need to get back to work now.
May I ask what you had done? Don't answer if you don't want to, of course.
Thanks Peanut, and Hi.

Hi again, I had laproscopic (keyhole) surgery, it was something quite rare a lipoma had caused inscusseption (sp) of the colon, it wasn't diagnosed for ages though. Apparently it's quite serious but more common in infants than adults. I had to have the sigmoid colon removed then it was joined up again, I was lucky and didn't end up with a colostomy bag. Hope you had something a bit more pleasant? (although how pleasant can it all be!) I went for a tentative swim yesterday, took the dcs with dp. It was ok though a bit of tummy pain afterwards. The worst thing was the children's pool it was so busy- I worried I might get an accidental kick in the tummy!

I'm heading for the pool this weekend, it's been a month now, fingers crossed.
Well done that you managed to get a swim, I hope you're doing well.
