How long has this been going on? And how old are you? I had exactly the same thing - mainly on my chin as well. It upset me so much I would sometimes call in sick to work/would cancel plans to go out to hide indoors/cried a lot etc - sound ridiculous but after years and years of it I had zero confidence when I was going through a spotty phase.

After years of being told I would grow out of it, being prescribed topical treatments, antibiotics and the pill I finally got referred to a dermatologist at the age of 26 and was prescribed a course of roaccutane (serious stuff) which fixed it.

If you haven't already then the first step is to go and see your GP. It sounds like you are feeling very down about it - you don't have to live with it, it can be fixed.

Sending un-MN like hugs.

Just re-read OP. Don't know what to suggest about the hair on your chin - but definitely go to your GP. I think excess hair coupled with acne can sometimes be a sign of polycysctic ovarian syndrome so definitely definitely go and see your GP.

Thank you bicnod, you are so kind ! It has been going on for 3 weeks. Now my skin tend to be spotty but it has be never been that bad, expecially on the chin. I think it is hormonal. I know about roaccutane but as I'm on an ads and the pill, I don't think I could take that as well.

Poor you :( no, you're right, you can't take roaccutane with ADs and if it's been going on for 3 weeks they almost certainly wouldn't prescribe it yet anyway. But please please go and see your GP - if it's hormonal maybe they can move you on to a different pill? Really hope you get some help because it is rubbish feeling like that.

Sounds like cystic acne, and the chin area is usually related to hormones. The main thing is DO NOT SQUEEZE if you can possibly resist. I know when they feel big and sore you desperately want to try to pop them, but they won't. You should see if you can find a sympathetic GP. Also, check out acne.org.

As for the hair growth, I found IPL quite effective (although expensive).

Hi

Have the same problem. Think its hormonal and a bit too many chololates. I find if I put a dab of "arnica gel" onto spot. It stings and then creates a skin around the spot. I put it on morning and night and within 2 days. Its cleared up.
