Alternatives to Anti-biotics?

My dd has just been diagnosed with a urine infection that I suspect she's had for a while. The doc has prescribed the usual anti-biotics. Trouble is I hate using them and will avoid them if at all possible. She's only had one course when she had bronchilitis at 14 months. Is there an alternative to using them?

if it helps, the bioforce drops cost around €9-75 in Ireland (i think they usually keep their prices similar various countries) and a 50ml bottle will last for months as children only need a few drops at a time.
if you do buy it I always use the "regular" one (as opposed to the childrens one), it is safe for children, is stronger and gives much better results.
You could always leave it for know and get some when you next can afford it for future use

Let us know how you get on. Unless she suddenly develops a raging temperature or other signs of an infection etc it sounds the best plan, espeically as she has had it for so long. I'm with zebra on this one (and I don't say that very often )

Took the sample in this morning, they said to phone for the results tomorrow after 5pm. She seems fine in herself so holding off till then.

do you feel righteous, Rhubarb?

What do you think her wee'ing problem is, then?

My dd was treated for months for urine infections without ever having her urine tested, and eventually we saw an emergency doctor who had a really good look around her bits and found a tiny little fissure - it turned out to be that plus vaginitis that was causing the pain on weeing. I wonder if it's something like that with your dd, too.
