Ideas for physio visits with 2 under two?

Looks like I'll be having a monthly visit to the physio at the hospital for a fair while.

At the moment DH has been taking a half day (but could get away with 2 hours if things aren't held up) to look after them while I'm being seen. However this will soon eat into his annual leave and I feel a bit needy by having him come with me. While we might be OK in April he doesn't have that much leave left this year as he had to take holiday for paternity leave.

We've recently moved so don't have people I feel comfortable asking yet, plus people I do meet also have kids. Maybe in a few months...

Anyone got any other ideas?

DS is 10 weeks (also BF and a bottle refuser so needs to be there atm) and DD 21 months and not content babies who just sit there. Writing this I've just realised in a few months they won't have to come with me, but someone could have them at their house and I'll return the favour but will post anyway in case f genius's being out there)

Childminder? You might be lucky I'd do the couple of hours if you were close to me but you'd have to ring a few.

Take the baby with you and put the elder one in with a Cm

I used to put mine in Sainsbury's creche for an hour when I'd just moved here, knew no one and had interviews lined up. Don't think you could do that with the baby though. Anything similar where you are? Ikea creche for example?

Do the hospital have any out of working hours appointments ? Ours is open 8 till 6 (diff days)

Or if you can afford it, maybe look for a private physio - the one I see works till 8pm and is at the leisure centre so some of his patients use their creche

I'll ask about OOH but I doubt it as there is normally only one half day session a week.

The physio is for my pelvic floors Blush and as silly as it sounds I feel I need to be able to relax, not possible if there is a crying baby.

Will ponder/explore creche but don't think there any near there (appointments normally clash with school run but will scout CM as well).

Feeling more confident that I'll use DH for the next two and then would have found something else.

Money is tight but I really like the physio so wouldn't risk changing anyway, especially as its more a specialist field.

You could try posting on www.childmindingforum.co.uk or pm me your area and I'll post a childminder wanted add.

I'm guessing you'd have thought of this if it were possible, but no chance of DH being able to work from home and/or use flexitime instead of taking leave?

PenguinArmy · 22/12/2011 13:34

thanks south I'll bear that in mind. I'm going to put the issue aside until we're through xmas

rudolph maybe on flexitime, his line manager has just changed so they might be more open to it (his last one was a stickler for the rules and they shared the same office so no sneaking out)
