Cradle cap - in an adult!

Every winter I get a dry scaly patch right at the front of my scalp, in my hairline by my parting. It looks terrible and I have big lumps of flaky skin. it does look like cradle cap, and I don't know how to get rid of it!

My skin is generally quite dry and my hair is particularly so at the moment.

Any ideas?

Olive oil, rub on the area and leave for as long as possible. Probably do it in the evening so you can leave it overnight and wash off in the morning.

Will coconut do? Someone suggested that but is it so greasy.

I know but it really did get rid of DS's cradle cap! If it is cradle cap and not psoriasis(sp?) could you try the medicated shampoo you get for babies? Dentinox do one.

Otherwise I suggest seeing your GP for a proper diagnosis.

Use Nizoral once a week and get the flakes out with a nit comb. Use normal shampoo rest of the time.

Body Shop's ginger shampoo is super for this (contains ginger, not for ginger coloured hair just to clarify!)

Sure its cradle cap and not scalp psoriasis?

I did seethe doctor and she prescribes shampoo that would take the barnacles of the bottom of a boat. It took off the top layer of skin and several below - ouch! Every year it's the same size and location.

I thought it was just me!
Every winter I get this sort of around the very front of my hairline. Running joke with my friends - it's winter as my head is peeling Grin

I get it at my hairline around the back and behind my ears as well as the front. Horrible and stings.
